[Financial News] The Public Procurement Service is pushing for bold and intensive reforms across public procurement in the second half of the year and aims to support the achievement of the new government's national goals by promoting the public purchase of innovative products.
 The Public Procurement Service announced that it held a procurement department heads meeting for procurement reform presided over by Deputy Director Baek Seung-bo on the 14th, attended by all directors, including each director of the main office and 11 regional directors nationwide.
 The meeting reviewed the performance of the first half of the year, shared the new government's national operation direction and major business promotion plans for the second half, and focused on discussions on reform tasks to promote intensive procurement reform.
 In the first half of the year, the Public Procurement Service introduced a flexible lease method for the pilot purchase of innovative products for the first time and newly reorganized the support system for innovative products by expanding the scale (7 billion → 14 billion won) and fields of overseas demonstration of innovative products.
 Additionally, the 'Regulation Reset' is being promoted to comprehensively review 760 internal regulations, guidelines, and major procurement systems such as the multiple supplier contract system from scratch, selecting and announcing 80 Regulation Reset tasks in the first round this month.
 During the meeting, in relation to the President's request regarding the improvement direction of public procurement at the Cabinet meeting on the 8th, reform measures to enhance competition, fairness, and transparency in procurement administration and actively support the achievement of national goals were intensively discussed.
 Baek Seung-bo, Deputy Director of the Public Procurement Service, said, “The second half of this year is an important period to prepare and swiftly implement procurement reform measures that meet the expectations of companies, demand agencies, and the public, fundamentally changing the procurement system,” adding, “Public procurement should focus all efforts on driving livelihood recovery and economic growth and supporting the successful implementation of the new government's national tasks.”
 Furthermore, Deputy Director Baek urged that utmost care be taken in safety management at each public construction site and goods installation site to prevent heatwave damage, and that procurement materials needed for heatwave damage prevention and recovery be promptly supplied.
