Yoon's Side Submits Non-Appearance Statement...No Change in Situation
[Financial News] Former President Yoon Seok-yeol has again refused to cooperate with the special prosecutor team for insurrection and foreign affairs (Cho Eun-seok Special Prosecutor). He has not responded to two summonses for investigation since being re-arrested on the 10th.
Yoon's attorney stated on the 14th, "Former President Yoon has submitted a non-appearance statement regarding today's attendance."
It seems that, as before, 'health reasons' have been cited as the reason for non-appearance. The attorney said, "I understand that the situation has not changed."
The special prosecutor team requested Yoon to appear at their office in the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office at 2 PM on the 11th, the day after his arrest, for investigation, but Yoon did not appear due to health reasons.
In response, the special prosecutor requested objective data related to Yoon's health status from the Seoul Detention Center, confirmed it, and determined that there was no issue with the investigation, demanding his appearance at 2 PM that day.
As Yoon again refused to cooperate with the investigation, the special prosecutor team is expected to consider forced summons.
Previously, Special Prosecutor Assistant Park Ji-young suggested the possibility of forced summons, stating, "The investigation method will naturally consider the status of a former president within the scope permitted by general social perception, but otherwise, it will not differ from other suspects."
