[Financial News] The Financial Supervisory Service and the General Insurance Association selected 35 locations nationwide as frequent accident areas for intentional car accidents and announced on the 14th that they will implement voice guidance through the navigation app T Map. The areas targeted for voice guidance are those with high traffic compared to other locations, and complex lanes such as roundabouts, with 18 in the Seoul metropolitan area and 17 in other metropolitan municipalities, totaling 35 locations.
Drivers using T Map will receive voice guidance on the risk of intentional accidents and precautions before entering the relevant intersections and side roads.
The Financial Supervisory Service also plans to raise awareness of the increasing organized intentional car accidents by recruiting TV broadcasts and cast members that are familiar and have a large promotional effect on the general public.
It warns that accepting proposals for intentional car accidents through close friends, family, or social networking service (SNS) posts can result in a serious crime punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won. It urges reporting suspicious cases of intentional car accidents to the Financial Supervisory Service and related agencies.
In addition, in line with the ongoing traffic accident insurance fraud investigation period by the National Police Agency, a promotional campaign under the theme "Intentional Accident is Intentional Crime" will be conducted online and offline.
The Financial Supervisory Service stated, "We will continue to conduct planned investigations with the insurance industry to eradicate intentional car accidents and will also continuously carry out public promotions to prevent insurance fraud."
