[Financial News] KOSPI is attempting to enter the 3200 mark again, supported by foreign net purchases. As of 2:15 PM on the 14th, the KOSPI index is trading at 3198.87, up 23.10p (0.73%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 3175.59, down 0.18p (0.01%) from the previous session, but turned upward early in the session. The rise expanded in the afternoon.
In the stock market, foreigners are boosting the index by net buying 132.4 billion won worth of stocks. Individuals and institutions are showing net selling of 115.4 billion won and 60.9 billion won worth, respectively.
By sector, insurance (6.73%), distribution (3.54%), and finance (2.46%) are showing strength, while IT services (-2.15%), machinery equipment (-1.04%), and pharmaceuticals (-0.93%) are showing weakness.
Among the top market cap stocks, SK Hynix (1.19%), KB Financial (1.32%), and Hyundai Motor (3.61%) rose, while Samsung Electronics (-0.64%), Samsung Biologics (-1.04%), and LG Energy Solution (-1.87%) fell.
Last Friday, the New York stock market showed a decline due to the impact of repeated tariff remarks by President Trump.
However, the decline was more limited than before due to the market's still low level of caution. President Trump, who had sent letters to major countries urging negotiations by the 1st of next month, released a letter stating that a 35% tariff would be imposed on Canada. There is an analysis that if the tariffs mentioned by Trump are applied, there is a possibility of increased inflationary pressure.
Jae-won Lee, a researcher at Shinhan Investment Corp, said, "Policies to enhance shareholder value, such as amendments to the Commercial Act and mandatory treasury stock cancellation, are expected to continue to be a driving force for the domestic stock market," adding, "Market attention is expected to focus on corporate earnings for the time being. Attention should be paid to sectors that exceed earnings expectations and those undervalued compared to profits."
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 798.65, down 1.82p (0.23%) from the previous trading day. The index started at 802.73, up 2.26p (0.28%) from the previous session, but turned downward.
In the KOSDAQ market, only individuals are buying 257.1 billion won worth of stocks, while foreigners and institutions are showing net selling of 191.0 billion won and 43.8 billion won worth, respectively.
