[Financial News] Enterprise food tech company Marketboro, which operates the food material open market 'Sikbom', announced on the 14th that it recorded a transaction amount of 120 billion won in the first half of this year, growing 2.2 times compared to the same period last year. It is evaluated that the digitalization trend of food material distribution is accelerating despite the difficult environment of the dining industry.
In particular, after surpassing a monthly transaction amount of 20 billion won for the first time in April, it has recorded more than 20 billion won for three consecutive months until June, drawing a stable growth curve. The number of orders increased by 132% compared to the previous year, reaching 150,000 per month, and the number of buyers also increased by 108%. The accumulated number of members jumped from 110,000 in June last year to 220,000 in June this year, doubling in one year. About 9,000 new members are joining every month.
The rapid spread of Sikbom is backed by the largest number of sellers in the country, a wide range of products, and a convenient delivery system. The early morning direct delivery service, known as the 'Direct Delivery System into the Refrigerator', enhances the convenience of dining industry workers and acts as a core competitive edge of the platform.
From the seller's perspective, medium and large companies such as Hyundai Green Food, Nonghyup Market, Sajo, Bakingmon, and large food material marts are continuously joining, strengthening both price competitiveness and product diversity. In the first half of this year, the service area expanded to Gyeongsang-do and Jeolla-do, and the influx of local dining industry operators is noticeably increasing.
A Marketboro official stated, "The steep growth in the first half shows that the digital transformation of food material distribution is an unstoppable trend, and Sikbom is at the center of it," adding, "In the second half, we will strengthen our position as an essential platform for the dining industry with aggressive marketing and service innovation."
Meanwhile, Marketboro operates the food material open market 'Sikbom' and the business-to-business (B2B) food material distribution software as a service (SaaS) 'Marketbom', resolving the opacity and inefficiency of food material transactions with digital technology. In March of this year, it surpassed a cumulative transaction amount of 10 trillion won and attracted a strategic investment of 40.3 billion won from CJ Freshway in 2022.
