[Financial News] Busan Bumin Hospital (Director Choi Chang-hwa) Spine Center's Seok Sang-yoon (pictured) announced on the 14th that he won the Best Cervical Paper Gold Award at the '2025 5th Cervical Research Society Conference' held at Korea University College of Medicine's Choi Deok-gyeong Hall on the 5th, proving once again his outstanding achievements in the field of cervical disease research.
This award is particularly meaningful as it marks a three-year consecutive win following the bronze awards in 2023 and 2024.
Seok presented a cervical-related paper titled 'Points to Consider to Prevent Vertebral Artery Injury During Total Resection of the Uncinate Process in Patients with Cervical Radiculopathy: Anatomical Positional Relationship Between the Base of the Uncinate Process and the Transverse Process' at this conference, conducted in collaboration with Professor Seok Kyung-soo of Gangnam Severance Hospital, and was recognized for his significant contribution to cervical disease research.
The paper was evaluated as providing important indicators for preventing significant complications that may occur during surgery on patients with cervical disc herniation.
Seok stated, "I am very pleased that the results of the research, planned and conducted in the process of contemplating treatment methods for the increasing number of cervical disease patients each year, have been recognized by the conference," and added, "I will continue to do my best for the treatment and research development of cervical disease patients."
In addition to this award, Seok has also received the Young Investigator Award from the Korean Society of Spine Surgery. He is actively engaged in research and educational activities both domestically and internationally, including directly guiding Tokyo University doctors in Japan on the UBE (Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic) surgical method.
