[Financial News] Kang Sun-woo, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee, who is embroiled in a 'power abuse against aides' controversy, apologized at the confirmation hearing on the 14th.

Kang stated at the confirmation hearing held that day, "I am deeply sorry for the controversy caused by me," and "I sincerely apologize to the aides who may have been hurt."

In response to a question from Baek Seung-ah, a lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, who asked about her reflections over the past three weeks since her nomination, Kang said, "In the past three weeks, I have had time to reflect not only on matters related to the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family but also on myself. It was a painful yet grateful time."

She continued, "I am deeply sorry for the controversy caused by me," and "I sincerely apologize to the aides who may have been hurt in the midst of that controversy."

She also stated, "I will humbly accept my shortcomings and strive to live with more careful and deeper consideration in my words and actions in the future."

Furthermore, she said, "I believe there will be opportunities to explain the suspicions that arise in detail during the hearing," and "I will do my best to ensure there are no concerns."

Meanwhile, regarding the content that legal action was considered against the aides who reported the 'power abuse controversy,' she denied, saying, "I have never said I would do that," and it is not her official position.
