[Financial News Jeonju=Kang In Reporter] Cases of becoming a criminal after lending out a mobile phone under one's name are increasing, requiring caution.
According to Jeonbuk Police Agency on the 14th, part-time job postings demanding the rental of mobile phone SIM cards and financial transaction password generators (OTP) have recently been appearing on SNS.
Those who fall for such voice phishing schemes receive about 100,000 won a day and hand over mobile phones and financial information, becoming the subject of police investigations.
The police recently arrested a 40s collector who gathered so-called 'setting phones' recruited by this method and delivered them to a voice phishing organization.
This collector was caught after seeing an advertisement saying 'If you collect mobile phones under other people's names, you will be given 250,000 won per unit' and handed over 4 setting phones to the organization.
The police explained that these setting phones have financial institution and coin trading apps installed, allowing voice phishing funds to be siphoned off to other accounts without the knowledge of the name holder.
The police warned, "Even lending a mobile phone and SIM card to others or revealing a financial transaction password can be a criminal act," and advised, "As collecting, delivering, or remitting mobile phones or cash under the guise of high-income part-time jobs is participating in a crime, it should never be done."
