Amicogen, Leading the Independence of 'K-Bio Core Material Localization'

[Financial News] Amicogen, a company specializing in biomaterials and healthcare, announced that Jeong Ilyeong, a member of the 22nd National Assembly and the regional chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea in Incheon Yeonsu-gu, visited the Amicogen cell culture media factory located in Songdo, Incheon on the 14th to discuss the localization of core materials in the bio industry.
The meeting was held under the theme 'Listening to Bio Components and Materials Independence', and there was an in-depth discussion on the necessity of localizing cell culture media and chromatography resin, which are essential for biopharmaceutical production, and the direction of policy support.
Amicogen possesses the technology and infrastructure to produce media and resin simultaneously for the first time in Korea, and supplies high-quality materials quickly and stably to domestic bio companies through its GMP-based factory located in Songdo, Incheon.
Jeong Ilyeong, while touring the site, showed deep interest in the only infrastructure in Korea for simultaneous production of cell culture media and resin, and the GMP-based high-quality bio-process technology. He emphasized, "The bio industry is soon national security and the core of future growth," and "The government and the National Assembly must keep pace with the efforts of companies for technological independence." He also mentioned the importance of the testbed role of domestic materials and securing a stable supply chain. 
In fact, the Amicogen Songdo media factory is located in the Songdo area of Incheon, where major demand sources such as Samsung Biologics and Celltrion are concentrated, and has great competitiveness in terms of transportation cost, lead time reduction, and quality control as a core bio-component production base.
An Amicogen official stated, "In the field of cell culture media and resin, where dependence on global source companies is still high, building a domestic supply chain is key to securing bio-industry sovereignty," and "If policy cooperation and active testing and adoption by demand companies are added, the technological independence of K-Bio will become a reality."
Meanwhile, Amicogen possesses dual capabilities unique in Korea in the bio-component sector, including high-value bio raw materials and media/resin contract manufacturing (CMO) and contract development (CDO), and is accelerating the expansion of research and development and production infrastructure to create a sustainable material ecosystem.
