[Financial News] Veteran journalist and 'conservative commentator' Jeong Gyu-jae, former chief editorial writer of the Korea Economic Daily, argued that core pro-Yoon Seok-yeol figures who recruited former President Yoon Seok-yeol should be expelled from politics. Regarding some People Power Party lawmakers who claimed there was no need to apologize for opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon, he suggested "the party should either disappear into the annals of history or there is another way," proposing 'party dissolution'.
Former chief editorial writer Jeong said on the 14th on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show', "People like Na Kyung-won are saying, 'Hey, that was a policy, so how can you ask us to apologize for a policy?' and they are right. That's why they need to apologize," he said.
He added, "The party needs to be reborn, but if they feel there's no need to apologize for the policy, then the party should either disappear into the annals of history or there is another way," proposing 'party dissolution'.
Previously, Na Kyung-won, a People Power Party lawmaker, on the 10th, responded to the apology of Yoon Hee-sook, the People Power Party's innovation chairperson, who said, "I deeply regret not being able to correct the excesses of former President Yoon Seok-yeol and leading to martial law," by saying, "How long are we going to keep apologizing?"
Lawmaker Na, in an interview with YTN Radio's 'Shin Yul's News Frontline' on the 11th, responded to the host's comment, "There is talk that the relationship with former President Yoon needs to be sorted out in some way," by saying, "We have already apologized for the martial law, and former President Yoon has already left the party," indicating that there is nothing left to sort out within the party.
She also argued, "Why should we apologize for opposing the impeachment? Political judgment as a ruling party lawmaker should not be questioned."
Regarding this, former chief editorial writer Jeong criticized, "Lawmaker Na herself is accused of obstructing the arrest of the president. (On January 6th) she stood at the entrance of the official residence and obstructed the arrest by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials." He added, "(Lawmaker Na should) take legal responsibility," and said that if the arrest consent motion for the 40 or so lawmakers who stood in front of the presidential residence, including lawmaker Na, is sent to the National Assembly, the People Power Party should "accept it." Former chief editorial writer Jeong emphasized, "That is the painful process of the People Power Party being reborn."
On this day, former chief editorial writer Jeong also did not hold back his criticism towards the People Power Party on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show', pointing out the 'double power'.
He related to the recent press conference by Yoon Hee-sook, the innovation chairperson, who pointed out the party's eight major mistakes, saying, "One more thing needs to be added. Who recruited former President Yoon in the first place? That is the starting point of the most serious error. The ninth major mistake," he pointed out.
He added, "The initial Yoon core figures (Yoon Seok-yeol's core associates), a few of them, the problems they caused are continuing to this day."
Former chief editorial writer Jeong emphasized, "The double power (Kwon Seong-dong, Kwon Young-se), some of whom are now in the provinces, and there were a few people at that time. There are four or five people who worked at the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee," saying, "They should leave politics."
