Programs are composed of 'life-oriented' education closely related to real life, such as culture and arts, humanities, informatization, and civic participation, and are evaluated to have significantly contributed to increasing participants' self-expression, social participation, and emotional stability.
The project included △Osan Seed School for the Disabled (2,700 people) △Neulpureum (120 people) △Deaf Association Osan Branch (50 people) △Sky Sound Social Cooperative (54 people) △Sungshim Nursing Home (88 people) △Visually Impaired Association Osan Branch (110 people) △Osan Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled (115 people) △Osan Southern Disabled Daycare Center (439 people) △Seungwoo Mental Nursing Home (290 people), with 9 institutions participating.
The city places significance on the fact that this project was achieved through Osan City's leading support.
Although the programs of Osan Seed School for the Disabled and Neulpureum were conducted in cooperation with Gyeonggi-do, lifelong education for the remaining 7 institutions was fully supported independently by Osan City, realizing customized education reflecting regional characteristics and demand.
The city is continuing active financial input to fill the blind spots in education for the disabled under the philosophy of 'leaving no one behind'.
Mayor Lee Kwon-jae said, "Lifelong education for the disabled is not just learning but an essential process to improve quality of life," adding, "We will continue to expand educational opportunities so that the disabled can dream and become independent through learning, creating a better Osan for the socially disadvantaged."
