On the morning of the 14th, at the Science, Technology, Information, and Broadcasting Committee of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, People's Power members attach placards saying 'Choi Min-hee Dictatorship OUT' during the confirmation hearing for candidate Bae Kyung-hoon for Minister of Science and ICT. [Financial News] The Democratic Party induced a disruption in the confirmation hearing on the 14th. They adjourned or dissolved the hearing, taking issue with the People's Power's placard protest demanding the resignation of ministerial candidates.
First, the Women's and Family Committee's confirmation hearing for candidate Kang Sun-woo for Minister of Gender Equality and Family was adjourned just before Kang's oath due to Democratic Party members' loud protests.
Democratic Party members disrupted the hearing by demanding corrections to the People's Power aides' placard protest demanding Kang's resignation and the placards attached to the laptops of People's Power members inside the meeting room.
Candidate Kang is under suspicion of abusing aides. In response, the People's Power Aides Association is urging Kang's resignation to protect the rights of parliamentary aides.
On the same day, the Science, Technology, Information, and Broadcasting Committee of the National Assembly was dissolved even before the confirmation hearing for candidate Bae Kyung-hoon for Minister of Science and ICT began. Like the Women's Committee, it was due to the People's Power members' placard attachment, but it contained criticism directed at the committee chairman, not the candidate's resignation, saying 'Choi Min-hee Dictatorship OUT'.
The Women's Committee, chaired by Lee In-sun of the People's Power, adjourned with an agreement for consultation between the ruling and opposition secretaries, but the Science and Technology Committee, chaired by Choi Min-hee of the Democratic Party, boldly declared dissolution due to personal attacks. If no further consultation occurs, Bae's confirmation hearing will be canceled.
