[Financial News] A 60-year-old homeless man who entered empty houses and restaurants to eat food at will has been sentenced to prison.

Ulsan District Court Criminal Division 3 Judge Lee Jae-wook announced on the 13th that Mr. A, who was tried for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (theft), was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

At the end of December last year, Mr. A entered a house in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, and cooked and ate ramen from the kitchen while the owner was away.

In January this year, he entered a restaurant in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, through the back door of the warehouse and secretly took chicken feet, ramen, etc. from the refrigerator, cooked them in the kitchen, and ate them with two bottles of soju.

After being released from prison in early December last year, Mr. A lived without a fixed residence and committed these crimes by entering restaurants, houses, or buildings without people when he was hungry.

The court stated, "Although the damage amount is not large, it is inevitable to sentence him to prison because he committed the crime again during the repeat offender period, less than a month after being released, despite having been punished several times already."
