The festival is held in areas including Seocheon-gun and Asan-si in Chungnam, Sangju-si and Gimcheon-si in Gyeongbuk, and Jecheon-si in Chungbuk. Starting from the 12th, about 4,000 student athletes will participate in 7 events including athletics, judo, ice skating, table tennis, tennis, swimming, and gymnastics over 30 days. Including parents and coaches, a total of about 10,000 people will visit the stadiums.
The Dream Tree Sports Festival hosted by Kyobo Life is the only nationwide comprehensive youth sports event held by the private sector. It has been held for 41 years since 1985 to discover and nurture sports talents early and to promote basic sports. The cumulative number of participants over the years has reached about 155,000.
The Dream Tree Sports Festival is considered an opportunity to meet future Olympic stars with great talent. In fact, about 500 national representatives, including Woo Sang-hyeok, the face of Korean high jump, Shin Yu-bin, who was noted as a table tennis prodigy from a young age, Park Tae-hwan, the legend of Korean swimming, and Yoo Seung-min, the president of the Korea Sports Council, have passed through the festival.
Support continues to nurture leaders with the right sports spirit. Promising students with good character and talent are selected to receive scholarships every year for 6 years in middle and high school. If they are selected as national representatives and win during this period, additional scholarships are provided.
Kyobo Life is dedicated to discovering and nurturing sports talents early and promoting basic sports. This is due to the unique philosophy of talent development passed down from the founder. Shin Yong-ho, the founder of Kyobo Life, initiated the Dream Tree Sports Festival, saying, 'A healthy physique must be developed from a young age for character and knowledge to grow well.' Shin Chang-jae, the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Kyobo Life, is also making differentiated efforts to foster talent while realizing the founding ideals of 'National Education Promotion' and 'Formation of National Capital.'
