[Financial News]  On the morning of the 14th, a fire broke out at Chosun University Hospital in Gwangju, causing patients and medical staff to evacuate urgently.

According to the Gwangju Fire Headquarters, a fire report was received at 8:12 a.m. in Operating Room 7 on the 3rd floor of the new building of Chosun University Hospital in Hak-dong, Dong-gu.

The fire was extinguished without major damage due to the quick initial response of the medical staff. The medical staff on site used fire extinguishers and indoor fire hydrants to contain the flames within about 10 minutes after reporting to the fire department.

In the process, five people who inhaled smoke from the operating room were transferred to the emergency room, and 40 people, including patients and medical staff, evacuated on their own, the hospital said.

Fortunately, no surgery was underway in the operating room at the time of the fire, so no serious casualties occurred.

The fire authorities suspect that the fire started from an electrical outlet in the operating room and plan to conduct a detailed investigation into the cause of the fire after completing ventilation work.

Chosun University Hospital has suspended the operation of the operating room until the safety inspection is completed. A hospital official said, "We are carefully reviewing the need to transfer patients to other medical institutions."
