Cool temperatures averaging around 20°C even in midsummer, summer sales up 4 times
[Financial News] Mona Yongpyeong is gaining attention as a "summer resort without tropical nights" by promoting its cool climate and differentiated leisure programs even in midsummer.
Located at the foot of Balwangsan Mountain at an altitude of 1458m, Mona Yongpyeong has an average midsummer temperature 7~8℃ lower than Seoul, allowing for comfortable accommodation without tropical nights unlike the city. According to Korea Meteorological Administration statistics, the average temperature in Daegwallyeong in July and August is approximately 20°C and 18.5°C respectively, significantly lower than Seoul's average temperature (July 25°C, August 26°C), allowing visitors to enjoy a cool breeze even at midnight.
Mona Yongpyeong has consistently strengthened its differentiated summer travel content by operating various activities such as golf, water parks, high-altitude trekking, and pool parties based on these climatic advantages. In particular, Mona Yongpyeong's unique wellness content, such as meditation, forest healing programs, and yoga using the refreshing high-altitude forest, has become a special experience that recharges both body and mind, gaining popularity among various age groups including the MZ generation.
Mona Yongpyeong is breaking away from its past structure of heavily relying on winter ski-centered sales and is establishing itself as an "All Seasons Resort" by dramatically increasing its performance in the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
In fact, the operating revenue for the third quarter (summer) of 2024 was 36 billion KRW, more than four times compared to 2002 (8.7 billion KRW) and about 34% growth compared to 2017 (26.9 billion KRW), significantly reducing seasonal sales disparities. The leisure and resort complex platform strategy encompassing all seasons is serving as a key driver for sustainable growth, moving beyond a simple seasonal resort.
A Mona Yongpyeong representative stated, "Mona Yongpyeong's greatest competitive edge lies in its cool climate that allows for a restful night's sleep without air conditioning even in midsummer, and its differentiated experience combining season-specific activities and forest-centered wellness programs," adding, "This year, we are strengthening trendy programs targeting the 2030 demographic through new summer season content planning, such as pool parties and the Balwangsan Festival, further expanding our customer base. Through this, we aim to further enhance summer sales and profitability, and solidify our position as a leading all-season resort in Korea based on a balanced performance foundation across all seasons and a sustainable growth strategy."
Mona Yongpyeong will operate various summer programs that families can enjoy together in a cool climate throughout August, starting with a pool party targeting the 2030 generation at the water park on July 26. The "Summer Cool Stage" held on the outdoor stage will feature performances by popular singers such as Hyorin, KCM, and Yoon Do-hyun Band, as well as trot concerts and various stages, while wellness experiences such as healing walks along the Balwangsan Thousand-Year Yew Forest Trail, drone and astronomy classes, yoga meditation, and a flea market and food trucks will be provided. Mona Yongpyeong plans to simultaneously boost summer season sales and customer satisfaction through diverse programs, further enhancing its competitiveness as a four-season leisure and resort complex.
