[Financial News] An incident occurred where Korean tourists were arrested by the police after engaging in a group brawl at a restaurant in Pattaya, a famous tourist destination in Thailand. The scene was literally a mess.
Local media such as Pattaya Mail reported that around 3:30 AM on the 11th (local time), a fierce physical altercation broke out among Korean male tourists at an outdoor hotpot restaurant in the Naklua area of Pattaya.
They were part of the same party sitting at the table, and during the meal, a verbal argument broke out, which soon escalated into a violent situation with plates and glasses being thrown and punches exchanged. The restaurant was crowded with group guests at the time, and when the fight broke out, the scene quickly turned into chaos with screams and commotion as guests scrambled.
The police, who were dispatched after receiving a report, arrested four Korean men at the scene. Investigation revealed that they resorted to violence after a verbal argument.
The restaurant suffered damage with plates, cups, and various utensils broken, and demanded a total of 100,000 baht (about 4.25 million won) in compensation from them. They paid the full compensation and were fined for public disturbance by the police before being released.
However, the incident did not end there. A video of the brawl filmed by another guest present at the scene quickly spread through SNS, causing controversy. The video has spread not only in Thailand but also to Korean online communities, causing a stir.
Local netizens criticized, saying "Thai law is too lenient," and domestically, there was a flood of criticism such as "It's a national embarrassment," and "Such acts should be punished in Korea as well."
