【Financial News Gumi=Gim Jangwook Reporter】 Gumi City Closed-Circuit (CC) TV Integrated Control Center is at the center of 'smart security'.
Gumi City announced on the 14th that the CCTV Integrated Control Center (hereinafter referred to as the control center) has established itself as a core infrastructure of the urban safety network.
Amidst the surge in demand for CCTV installations as part of the 8th public pledge project, the control center is fulfilling its role as a 'smart security hub' that protects the lives and property of citizens 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In 2021, the CCTV installation budget was 253 million won, which increased by 516% to 1.56 billion won in 2024. Investments have been significantly expanded to establish a crime prevention and rapid response system.
The control center is a two-story building with a total floor area of 678.5㎡. 32 monitoring personnel work in shifts of 4 teams, 3 shifts, 24 hours a day, monitoring a total of 604 CCTVs through 4 monitors per person. All videos are automatically switched at 15-second intervals for efficient and close surveillance.
Currently, the total number of CCTVs linked to the control center reaches 4829. They are densely installed for various purposes, including 2848 for crime prevention, around schools, parks, traditional markets, sports parks, cultural heritage protection, and vehicle number recognition.
Mayor Gim Jangho said, "The control center is evolving beyond a simple monitoring facility into a smart security base that protects the lives and property of citizens," adding, "We will continue to integrate advanced technologies such as AI-based video analysis to complete a more dense and intelligent safety network."
The control center functions as a hub for real-time crime response and life protection, beyond simple monitoring.
From 2022 to June 2025, a total of 266 cases were arrested in real-time through CCTV monitoring. This includes 167 cases of drunk driving, 41 cases of theft, and 12 cases of violence, and it is also responding quickly to civil complaints related to life safety, such as illegal waste dumping and suicide attempts.
During the same period, a total of 13,424 video materials were provided to investigative agencies. These are being used as important clues in various fields such as missing person searches, criminal investigations, and disaster response.
Meanwhile, the city is accelerating the advancement of the intelligent selective monitoring system. In addition to the existing person/vehicle recognition and intrusion detection functions, technology that detects complex situations such as violence, collapse, and fire is being applied, and related functions are continuously being upgraded.
Once the advanced system is fully operational, it is expected to complete an 'urban safety network' that can respond quickly to complex disaster situations, including crime prevention and disaster response.
