[Financial News] 7-Eleven announced on the 14th that it will launch two types of frozen beef to reflect the demand for convenience store meat products from the summer vacation and camping population.
According to 7-Eleven, sales of frozen meat products from last month to the 11th of this month increased by about 50% compared to the same period last year. In particular, sales at stores near beaches and resorts were more than twice as high as those at regular stores.
The newly introduced frozen meat products by 7-Eleven are 'Hanwoo Chadolbagi 300g' and 'Upjinsal (U.S. origin) 500g', adding beef products to the existing pork-centered category.
'Hanwoo Chadolbagi 300g' is a domestic Hanwoo product that can be cooked without thawing. It can be used in various dishes according to preference, such as stews and shabu-shabu. Commonly known as 'Upjinsal (U.S. origin)', it can be used in doenjang stew, bean sprout stir-fry, and rice bowls. Additionally, 7-Eleven is holding a 1+1 giveaway event for two types of products, 'Handon Samgyeopsal 300g' and 'Handon Ppolhangjeong 300g', as part of the 7-Eleven Day promotion until the 15th of this month. Until the end of this month, 'Handon Moksal 300g' and 'Handon Doldolmal-i 400g' products are sold at an average discount of about 20% for 9,900 won.
Choi Hyunji, the product planning manager (MD) of 7-Eleven's convenience food team, said, "With the recent spread of nearby lifestyle shopping culture, customer interest and demand for fresh meat in the convenience store channel are gradually increasing," adding, "We are responding to related trends with meat products that match modern dietary culture, focusing on price rationality and purchase convenience."
