Online applications until August 19, selection of projects based on public demand in administration, safety, welfare, environment, etc.
'AI Challenge Program' is a project to discover AI technology suitable for solving public sector problems and to build a public AI diffusion model through technology demonstration and case acquisition.
The province held a preliminary briefing session online and offline last April and operated a matching day between public institutions and AI companies, selecting first-phase projects in three areas: 'AI-based 119 report reception and situation analysis', 'AI Welfare Call', and 'Generative AI 24-hour Civil Service Chatbot' in administrative services, safety, and welfare.
Afterwards, the province planned a second additional recruitment and extended the application deadline to reflect the opinions from meetings between AI companies and local governments.
The province plans to provide customized technology matching services between demand institutions and supply companies for the second selected projects using its own developed AI-based intelligent matching platform.
To participate in the demonstration project, form a consortium (local government/public institution-AI company) and apply online through the 'Gyeonggi Company Secretary' website by August 19.
The final selection will be announced in September after going through requirements review, document review, presentation evaluation, and checking for legal violations.
The selected projects will be conducted in a demonstration method that introduces and operates AI services planned based on public demand in the actual region, and support will be provided from technology development to infrastructure construction costs.
The final demonstration results will be evaluated focusing on the residents' perceived effects.

Kim Ki-byeong, Gyeonggi-do AI Director, said, "We hope it will be an additional opportunity for public institutions and companies that missed the selection opportunity in the first call to pursue good AI business ideas," adding, "In a situation where AI adoption in the public sector is expanding, we will do our best to discover and promote more AI projects that residents can feel."
