Conan Technology announced on the 14th that it will embark on a defense information and communication technology (ICT) research and development (R&D) project.
The project is titled 'Development of Automatic Collaboration Technology for AI Analysis Models Capable of Rapid Situation Awareness and Customized Response for Manned-Unmanned Complex Systems' (Project No. RS-2025-02316434) and is promoted under the supervision of the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute for Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). The total project budget is 5 billion KRW, aiming to develop and demonstrate automatic collaboration technology for AI analysis models related to Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) by 2028. The main research and development institution is LIG Nex1, with ETRI, KETI, and Mobigen participating as a joint research consortium.
Conan Technology's field of execution involves the development and demonstration of enemy threat analysis models and threat assessment agents in manned-unmanned complex systems. The developed results will be applied to combat scenarios to verify performance, aiming for practical use by the military. Upon completion, it is expected to equip operational capabilities that can respond swiftly and accurately even in complex and diverse battlefield situations.
Kang Hyun-soo, Director of Vision AI Research Institute and the project leader, said, "It is meaningful to participate in a project that demonstrates civilian AI technology in the defense sector," adding, "We plan to advance core technologies of command decision-making procedures such as AI-based enemy threat analysis, attack priority determination, and firepower recommendation."
