Fujifilm Electronic Imaging Korea announced on the 14th that it is recruiting for the 4th session of the Casual Cinema Workshop, which supports the development of photography and video culture and the nurturing of future talents.
Operated in collaboration with Fujifilm Korea and Dankook University New Cinema Institute, 'Casual Cinema' is a hands-on workshop designed to experience the entire process of film production through 8 weeks of lectures. Fujifilm Korea provides filming equipment, and professors from Dankook University New Cinema Institute are responsible for lectures and mentoring.
This 4th session aims for creation focused on a free composition differentiated from traditional genre distinctions and also involves exploring the fundamental starting point of visual language, 'Why do we film?'.
The curriculum is structured as a process that starts from personal emotions, relationships, and perspectives to complete one's own narrative. Additionally, through intensive lectures that cover the entire film production process from planning, shooting, color correction, editing, to screening, participants can understand the flow of fieldwork and produce tangible results. Moreover, classes are centered on individual work rather than team composition, and casting actors or directing performances can be done autonomously if necessary, and works without acting can also be produced.
Anyone interested in film production can participate in the Casual Cinema 4th session, which is expected to be a meaningful opportunity for aspiring filmmakers who have contemplated visual language or are interested in experimental works that cross genre boundaries.
The recruitment number is 15, and applications can be made on the official Fujifilm Korea website until the 18th. Lectures will be held from the 20th to September 7th at the Fujifilm Particle 2nd floor lecture room, and the tuition fee is 600,000 won. The instructor is Kim Woo-jae, an invited professor from Dankook University Graduate School of Culture and Arts, who has directed various experimental films.
Fujifilm Korea provides all participants with necessary filming equipment such as the Fujifilm X-H2S camera and XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR lens free of charge. Additionally, a total of 2 teams will be selected to receive post-production support funds, and after the workshop ends, a screening and graduation ceremony will be held at a cinema in Seoul.
Im Hoon, president of Fujifilm Korea, said, "This Casual Cinema 4th session is a field of experimentation where one can systematically experience the entire process of film production, starting from small discoveries or observations and unfolding into unique stories," adding, "We will continue to make new attempts to expand the base of creative activities for future artists, not only by conducting various activities that contribute to the development of photography, film, and cultural industries, including Casual Cinema."
