[Financial News] Hankuk Investment & Trust Management announced on the 14th that it will newly list the ACE BYD Value Chain Active Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) on the stock market on the 15th.
ACE BYD Value Chain Active ETF is a product that invests in the Chinese electric vehicle company BYD and companies related to the BYD value chain. It is the first ETF to be introduced in Korea as a single stock theme of Chinese technology stocks.
As it invests in BYD and related value chains, most of the stocks included in the ACE BYD Value Chain Active ETF are expected to be composed of companies listed in China and Hong Kong. The benchmark (BM) is the Bloomberg BYD Plus Top Supply Chain Select Price Return Index.
The BM of the ACE BYD Value Chain Active ETF consists of 25% BYD stock and 75% of the sub-index, the Bloomberg BYD Plus Top Supply Chain Select Price Return Index. The sub-index includes 14 key supply chain companies related to BYD, including BYD subsidiaries.
As an active ETF, it aims for excess performance compared to the BM. The core assets of the portfolio mainly include stocks of BYD and key supply chain companies related to BYD, while strategic assets include stocks reflecting the maturity and trends of the electric vehicle market, such as vehicle operating systems (OS) and robotics.
The ETF is managed by Hwang Woo-taek, head of the global equity management department at Hankuk Investment & Trust Management, and Kim Won-jae, who is responsible for the management. The two are also in charge of managing the 'Hankuk Investment Global Electric Vehicle & Autonomous Driving Fund', a representative electric vehicle fund in Korea. According to FnGuide, the fund, established in 2017, recorded over 1 trillion won in net assets as of the 11th, investing in key companies related to the electric vehicle industry in the US, China, and Korea.
Mr. Hwang has been managing the product since its initial setup, and Mr. Kim joined as a deputy manager earlier this year. The electric vehicle-related funds managed by Mr. Hwang and Mr. Kim together include △Hankuk Investment Global Electric Vehicle & Autonomous Driving Fund △ACE Tesla Value Chain Active ETF △ACE Global Autonomous Driving Active ETF, totaling 3 funds, with a combined net asset value of approximately 2.13 trillion won.
Mr. Kim explained, “BYD, which is showing rapid growth in the global market, is the number one electric vehicle sales company in China,” adding, “We prepared a new product because there is no ETF in Korea that can focus on investing in BYD and related value chains.”
