Enhancing the reliability of artworks by determining authenticity using AI digital watermark
The agreement was prepared to prevent forgery of artworks and enhance trust. Both sides decided to combine Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation's advanced forgery prevention technology with the Incheon Art Show Organizing Committee's network and exhibition capabilities in the arts field to pursue various cooperative projects.
The agreement includes △ Promotion of projects for the development of culture and arts in Korea △ Installation of a booth for promoting forgery prevention technology at 'Incheon Art Show 2025'.
In the art world, both domestically and internationally, there are constant controversies over fake works involving artists like Picasso, Chagall, Cheon Kyung-ja, and Park Soo-geun. Doubts about forgeries in the art distribution market are a major obstacle to the spread of art appreciation culture.
To solve these issues, one of the main technologies used by Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation for preventing forgery of artworks is the 'AI Digital Watermark', which hides various information such as brand and creator protection in images and detects it. This technology minimizes damage to the original image and allows for more accurate detection without the hidden information being visible. Recently, it has also been gaining attention as a technology for identifying AI-generated content.
Artist Park Shin-yang, who transitioned from actor to painter and is gaining attention for his expressionist works, has signed the first art brand protection contract in Korea with Synergy International Co., Ltd. Digital watermark technology was applied to Park Shin-yang's works, certificates, and postcards.
Seong Chang-hoon, CEO of Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation, stated, "We will support the easy verification of the authenticity of artworks using AI-based digital watermark technology in conjunction with the 2025 Incheon Art Show," adding, "Through this, we aim to increase public trust and advance as a cultural enterprise supporting culture and arts."
