【Financial News Incheon=Reporter Han Gap-soo】 Incheon City announced on the 14th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the development of a tourism and cultural convergence city within the Incheon Free Economic Zone at the headquarters of the Kessler Collection located in Savannah, Georgia, USA, on the 11th (local time).
The Kessler Collection is a company boasting a portfolio of world-class luxury hotels and resorts, and this MOU is a follow-up measure to the Letter of Intent (LOI) submitted to Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok at Incheon City Hall on the 12th of last month.
As part of its strategy to enter the Asian market, the Kessler Collection has decided to consider participating as a master developer in the development of boutique hotels and video culture complex facilities on available plots within the Incheon Free Economic Zone.
The Kessler Collection is renowned for developing unique facilities that reinterpret the city's history and culture in a modern way and add artistic sensibility. A major development example is the Plant Riverside District, which transformed a ruined power plant in the Atlanta Savannah area into an entertainment district.
The Kessler Collection redeveloped the ruined area, utilizing the engines and chimneys of the power plant to create a unique atmosphere, rebirthing it as a tourist attraction.
Chairman Richard Kessler said, “We will do our best to combine Incheon's rich potential with the originality of the Kessler Collection to bring new vitality and become an exemplary partner through continuous cooperation with Incheon City.”
Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok said, “The unique concept and service of the Kessler Collection will further enhance the charm of Incheon.”
