[Financial News]  A video showing the Chinese national flag, the Five-Star Red Flag, installed alongside the Taegeukgi on the beach of Udo, Jeju Island, and then removed, was uploaded online, causing controversy.

On social media Thread, a video claimed to have been filmed on the 8th was uploaded on the 10th.
The video shows the Taegeukgi and the Five-Star Red Flag installed side by side along the coastal road of Udo, along with a post saying, "While we shout a hundred times, a thousand times that Dokdo is our land, it seems we are giving Udo to China."

Around the flags, a piano and several lotus flower models were installed, making it look like a place for tourists to take commemorative photos.

After the video was uploaded, critical posts such as "Jeju has become an island of the Chinese," "Even in Jeju markets, you only hear Chinese," and "In areas densely populated by Chinese, they engraved 'This is Chinese territory' in Chinese characters, and now they plant the national flag" were posted.

Some netizens who saw the video also reported that they filed complaints with the Jeju Provincial Office. An official from Udo-myeon told a media outlet, "It is presumed to have been installed by an individual," and "When the staff checked the site, all the Chinese flags had already been removed."

Meanwhile, according to the Jeju Tourism Association last January, the number of foreign tourists visiting Jeju last year was 1,907,608, surpassing 1 million for the first time in five years since before COVID-19 in 2019. In particular, Chinese tourists accounted for 1,304,359, making up 68.4% of all foreign tourists.
