Need to break the repeated 'parachute appointments' with every regime change
[Financial News] Park Chan-dae, a member of the Democratic Party running for the next party representative, announced on the 13th that he would promote a system to align the terms of the president and public institution heads as a party policy. This is intended to block the so-called 'parachute appointments' that have been repeated with every regime change.
Park stated, "If I become the party representative, I will adopt 'alignment of the president's term with public institution heads' as a party policy and promote the swift passage of related bills in the National Assembly." He emphasized, "As the establishment of an organic cooperation system between the president, government, and public institutions is urgent, I will do my best to support the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration."
The mismatch of terms between the president and public institution heads has been pointed out as a problem with every regime change, but institutional improvements have not been achieved due to a lack of agreement between the ruling and opposition parties. Currently, the National Planning Committee is discussing ways to align the terms of the president and public institution heads, and related bills have been proposed in the National Assembly.
