President Lee made this statement at the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Congress of Political Science held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, saying, "If there are still people who doubt the power of democracy and the strength of the sovereign, I tell them to look up to the eastern country of Korea and watch the hopeful march of K-democracy."
President Lee explained, "The people's sovereignty government, born from the revolution of light, is constantly experimenting and innovating direct democracy by starting with the people's recommendation system, the people's mailbox, and town hall meetings across the country, using the voice of the sovereign as the compass of state affairs."
Furthermore, President Lee emphasized, "To faithfully implement the inherent values and spirit of democracy, which states that all power comes from the people, we will institutionalize and normalize direct communication with the people, actively reflecting it in state affairs, and move towards a country where the people are truly the owners."
President Lee declared, "I will advance boldly so that the democracy of freedom, equality, and solidarity, which is deeply engraved in the DNA of the Korean people, can be passed down to future generations even more brilliantly."
