[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung appointed Gu Hyeok-chae, Director of Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Science and ICT, as the new 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 13th.
Vice Minister Gu graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in Electrical Engineering and entered public service through the 30th Technical Examination, holding key positions in science and technology, talent, and policy planning fields at the Ministry of Science and ICT, including Director of Future Talent Policy Bureau, Spokesperson, Director of Basic and Fundamental Research Policy, and Director of Planning and Coordination.
Since being appointed as Director of Planning and Coordination in September 2023, he has led science and technology policy consultations between ministries, the National Assembly, and the Presidential Office until recently.
