[Financial News] The American investment bank JP Morgan predicted that if Korea's corporate governance reform starts to be properly implemented, the KOSPI index could reach the 5000 mark within the next 2 years.
JP Morgan stated in a report on the 11th (local time) that "Korea is maintained as a key overweight market among Asia and emerging countries," and predicted that the KOSPI index, which rose by 32% this year and approached an all-time high, could rise to about 5000 in the future.
This outlook is based on JP Morgan's upgrade of its investment opinion on Korean stocks from 'neutral' to 'overweight' in line with President Lee Jae-myung's governance reform policy and his pledge to achieve 'KOSPI 5000' during his term.
JP Morgan advised, "As long as reforms proceed smoothly, additional purchases are recommended whenever market volatility occurs," and added, "Concerns about tariffs, slowing growth, and bond market fluctuations can quickly trigger buying in global and regional stock markets."
However, JP Morgan added, "Ironically, recent foreign buying is much weaker compared to early 2024," and "Considering the interest shown by global investors, this is seen as an attempt to find a better entry point."
