[Financial News] As the People Power Party's support rate plummets to the 10% range, the sense of crisis is at its peak, but the party still seems unable to unite. The 'Yoon Hee-sook Innovation Committee' has set 'Crossing the Sea of Impeachment' as its top priority, but within the party, voices like 'People Power Party is also a victim', 'Why should we apologize?' are causing confusion.
According to the political circle on the 13th, the People Power Party's support rate has fallen to 10%. In the regular survey by Gallup Korea on the 11th, the Democratic Party recorded 43%, People Power Party 19%, Cho Kuk Innovation Party 4%, Reform New Party 3%, and Progressive Party 1%. This is the lowest figure since the party was named 'People Power Party'.
The People Power Party has also lost ground to the Democratic Party in Daegu·Gyeongbuk (TK) and Busan·Ulsan·Gyeongnam (PK), where conservative support is strong. It was found to receive 27% support in the two regions of TK·PK. The Democratic Party recorded 34% in TK and 36% in PK.
Within the party, there is a serious atmosphere, acknowledging it as a 'disastrous result'. Song Eon-seok, the emergency countermeasure committee chairman and floor leader, appeared on KBS Sunday Diagnosis on the 13th and said about the low support rate, "We were lacking and need to make more efforts, thinking of it as a whip of love," and "It is a time to strengthen internal capabilities for a comeback." The party is in the process of recovery by launching the 'Yoon Hee-sook Innovation Committee'. The Innovation Committee announced reform plans, including 'Apology for Martial Law and Impeachment' to be included in the party constitution and regulations, essentially setting 'Severing Ties with Former President Yoon and his wife' as a key task.
However, messages conflicting with the direction of the Innovation Committee also emerged within the party. Jo Eun-hee, a member of the emergency committee, said on the day former President Yoon was re-arrested, "No one in the People Power Party knew about martial law in advance or agreed to it. Rather, we are victims as a result," causing controversy. Lawmakers Na Kyung-won and Jang Dong-hyuk, who actively opposed impeachment, also said in the spirit of 'No more apologies are needed', engaging in a hundred schools of thought.
In response, Chairman Yoon said, "Those who say reflection and apology are unnecessary are the top priority for personnel renewal," and strongly criticized, "They should leave the party." There are also predictions that the 'second round' of conflict over personnel renewal following Representative Ahn Cheol-soo and the leadership is expected. As Chairman Yoon aims to strengthen the party's fighting power against the ruling party and policy competitiveness through innovation, the plan is to recover support with high-intensity innovation.
