The Ministry of the Interior and Safety conducted an emergency inspection on the 13th, led by Director Kim Kwang-yong of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, to ensure that necessary measures are being properly implemented in preparation for heavy rain, as strong rain is forecasted mainly in the southern regions and the East Sea coast.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a large amount of water vapor is expected to flow into the southern region, bringing more than 100∼150mm of heavy rain to the southern regions and the East Sea coast of Gangwon and Gyeongbuk until the 14th.
In urban areas such as Busan and Ulsan, preemptive inspections and on-site measures will be strengthened to prevent flooding caused by blocked rainwater drains.
In areas with a high risk of landslides, such as those affected by forest fires, emergency measures, including the installation of waterproof sheets, will be re-examined, and if there is a risk of danger, nearby residents will be promptly evacuated to prevent casualties.
Additionally, in areas where casualties occurred in the past, proactive measures such as preemptive control of risk areas, proactive evacuation of residents, and promotion of national action guidelines will be actively pursued to prevent similar accidents from recurring.
Director Kim Kwang-yong of the Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters stated, "The government will make every effort to manage the situation by monitoring weather conditions in real-time and ensuring that necessary on-site measures are promptly implemented."
