The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 13th that it will support the revitalization of regional tourism and promote regional consumption through the promotion of beach and water play festivals and events during the peak summer vacation season in July and August.
This year, local governments will host a total of 120 regional festivals and events from July to August.
This July-August, there will be many beach and water play events where you can enjoy the summer, as well as festivals using seasonal food, family outings, and cultural events.
Representative summer vacation beach and water play festivals include the 'Boryeong Mud Festival' in Chungcheongnam-do and the 'Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival' in Jeollanam-do.
The 'Boryeong Mud Festival' in Chungcheongnam-do is widely known both domestically and internationally, offering various visitor benefits using Boryeong's natural mud, and you can also enjoy Daecheon Beach.
The 'Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival' in Jeollanam-do hosts events such as freshwater fish catching experiences, street parades, music festivals, and performances for family visitors.
Summer seasonal food-related festivals worth noting include the 'Hongcheon Glutinous Corn Festival' in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the 'Okcheon Grape and Peach Festival' in Chungcheongbuk-do.
The 'Hongcheon Glutinous Corn Festival' in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province operates food booths using the local specialty, Hongcheon County's glutinous corn, and hosts agricultural and specialty product sales and experience events.
At the 'Okcheon Grape and Peach Festival' in Chungcheongbuk-do, promotions and sales exhibitions are held using seasonal fruits like grapes and peaches, and cultural events such as song festivals are also held.
For family visitors during the summer vacation season, the 'Yeosu Marine Festival' in Jeollanam-do and the 'Songdo Beach Festival' in Incheon Metropolitan City are held.
The 'Yeosu Marine Festival' in Jeollanam-do offers events where visitors can experience various marine sports for free ahead of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo.
The 'Songdo Beach Festival' in Incheon Metropolitan City operates a water play zone and beach sand playground for family visitors during the summer vacation season at Songdo Beach, close to the city center.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety is implementing the 'Summer Vacation Resort Price Stability Management Promotion Plan' in cooperation with the private sector and local governments to ensure that the public can enjoy a vacation without exorbitant prices at summer resorts.
