[Financial News] Joo Jin-woo, a member of the People Power Party, criticized on the 13th that Kang Hoon-sik, the chief of staff of the presidential office, evaluated President Lee Jae-myung's cabinet appointments as 'the president's standards are too high' by saying "Flattery should be moderate."
Representative Joo wrote on social networking services (SNS) that "plagiarism of papers, real estate speculation, drunk driving, power abuse, tax evasion, and non-submission of documents are all 'at the level of President Lee's standards,'" thus expressing this.
Previously, Chief of Staff Kang expressed his sentiments by saying "the president's standards are too high" after completing the nomination of candidates for the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, Kim Yun-deok, and the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Choi Hwi-young, thus concluding the recommendations for the first cabinet.
Regarding this, Representative Joo pointed out, "It's both a boast that he led the appointments and flattery, but it falls far short of the 'people's ear level,'" adding, "It's understandable. After all, birds of a feather flock together."
He also poured criticism towards President Lee. Representative Joo said, "President Lee, who returned the plagiarized thesis from Gachon University, can fully understand the plagiarism of student theses by Minister of Education Lee Jin-sook," and "To President Lee, who granted special favors worth billions of won to developers in Daejang-dong and Baekhyeon-dong, the farmland speculation by Han Sung-sook, Koo Yoon-cheol, Jeong Dong-young, and Jeong Eun-kyung's husband seems cute," he quipped.
He further emphasized, "President Lee, with a history of drunk driving, and Chief of Staff Kang, with a history of driving without a license, would feel a sense of camaraderie with candidates Yoon Ho-jung and Kim Young-hoon," and "To President Lee, who handed a bottle to a female companion at a drinking party to pour drinks, Kang Sun-woo's 'power abuse' would seem more like 'devotion to bedding.'"
Additionally, Representative Joo wrote, "To President Lee, who has delayed trials with tricks like paying personal lawyer fees with nominations and public office and embezzling taxes with a corporate card, tax evasion and non-submission of documents are not stumbling blocks," and questioned, "Why is 'Kang Hoon-sik's flattery' so cringe-worthy?"
Meanwhile, starting on the 14th, personnel hearings for 16 ministerial candidates of this government are scheduled to take place over five days. The People Power Party is gearing up for a 'thorough verification,' but the Democratic Party of Korea aims for 'all to pass,' so a strong clash is expected.
