[Financial News] The Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group is accelerating the transition to artificial intelligence (AI) in regional key industries.
The Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group, a subsidiary of the Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency, announced on the 13th that it has visited Ulsan, Daegu, and Chungbuk Technoparks sequentially and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the promotion of 'Regional Manufacturing AI Centers'.
The Manufacturing AI Center is a hub that supports small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in introducing and utilizing AI and manufacturing data. It promotes AI transition (AX) by building regional specialized platforms and distributing manufacturing AI solutions tailored to key industries.
This agreement was pursued to secure the foundation for the promotion of regional Manufacturing AI Centers, which will be fully operational from this year, and to strengthen cooperation between digital transformation (DX)·AX and policy execution agencies for regional SMEs.
The Promotion Group and regional Technoparks will form a consultative body for administrative and technical support of the Manufacturing AI Centers. They plan to nurture this place as a core hub for the DX·AX transition of regional key industries. Detailed implementation plans tailored to the needs of the manufacturing sites in each region will also be pursued.
Ulsan will support the development and distribution of AI-based solutions centered on the automotive parts industry and the DX of regional industries. Daegu will build a specialized platform based on the machinery components and materials industry, support the use of AI and manufacturing data, and operate an innovation network. Chungbuk plans to support the full-scale introduction of AI technology based on the convergence bio industry and the spread of AI technology in manufacturing sites.
An Gwang-hyeon, head of the Promotion Group, said, "We plan to expand the Manufacturing AI Centers nationwide starting with Ulsan, Daegu, and Chungbuk," adding, "Since the successful operation of the three regions, which are being promoted proactively, is important, we will strive to create substantial results through inter-agency collaboration."
