【Financial News Ulsan=Choi Su-sang Reporter】A whale entered Daebyeon Port, Gijang-gun, Busan on the 13th and got lost. The Whale Research Institute and Ulsan Coast Guard are taking measures to release the whale to the open sea.
According to the Ulsan Coast Guard, the whale is a 7m baby sperm whale (Physeter macrocephalus), first identified by an angler's report at 5:05 AM saying "It seems a whale is caught on a rock off the coast of Gijang-gun."
Subsequent on-site verification by the Coast Guard revealed that the whale had entered Daebyeon Port, Gijang-gun, rather than the open sea, and as of 11 AM, officials from the National Institute of Fisheries Science's Whale Research Institute are monitoring the whale's condition and attempting to release it to the open sea.
The Whale Research Institute believes the baby whale lost its way after separating from its group.

The sperm whale is the largest of the toothed whales, reaching a maximum length of 20m and weighing several tons. It is characterized by very small pectoral and dorsal fins compared to its body, wave-like skin protrusions replacing the dorsal fin, and a very large tail fin.
The Ulsan Coast Guard is sending group messages to fishermen about the whale in Daebyeon Port, advising caution when boats enter and exit. The Coast Guard patrol boat is strengthening patrols to prevent collisions between the whale and vessels. Additionally, rescue personnel are on standby in diving suits.
