【Financial News Gangneung=Kim Gi-seop Reporter】Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held a promotional campaign for the '2025~2026 Visit Gangwon Year' in Busan from the 11th to the 12th for two days to promote the Donghae Line train connecting Gangwon and Yeongnam and to directly convey the charm of Gangwon to Busan citizens.
Governor Kim Jin-tae and the promotional team, consisting of the Gangwon Provincial Office Family Volunteer Group and the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, departed from Gangneung Station, experienced a train journey along the blue sea for about 5 hours on the Donghae Line, and directly confirmed the potential of the tourism axis connecting Gangwon and Busan.
Upon arriving at Busan Bujeon Station, Governor Kim attended a signing ceremony with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, Gangwon Tourism Foundation CEO Choi Seong-hyun, and Busan Tourism Corporation President Lee Jeong-sil.
This agreement was promoted to attract domestic and foreign tourists and promote regional co-prosperity by creating a 'East Coast Tourism Belt' linking coastal scenery and railways, developing stay-type railway tourism products, and strengthening joint marketing.
On the 11th, a street campaign was held around Bujeon Market. The promotional team directly distributed Gangwon tourism promotional fans to citizens, and Governor Kim Jin-tae greeted merchants, introduced Gangwon, and engaged in friendly communication by shopping directly. Citizens responded warmly, saying, "I didn't know Gangwon was such a close and friendly place."
On the 12th, at the 'Visit Gangwon Year' promotional booth set up at Bujeon Station, souvenirs were given through events such as lotteries and quizzes, vividly conveying the charm of Gangwon's tourism through experience-based promotion.
Meanwhile, the Donghae Line, which opened in January this year, is a direct train without transfers between Gangneung and Busan, surpassing 1 million cumulative users and gaining attention as a new tourism route. In particular, the Donghae Line Tourist Special Train, which operates from July, is sold out as soon as reservations open, and tourism demand is rapidly increasing.
After completing all schedules on the 12th, the promotional team returned to Wonju by taking the Jungang Line, directly checking the tourism linkage potential of the Donghae Line-Jungang Line, and concluded a meaningful journey.
Governor Kim Jin-tae said, "The Donghae Line is not just a means of transportation but a new door connecting Gangwon and Yeongnam into a single living and tourism zone," and "I hope that this on-site promotion will lead more people to visit nearby Gangwon easily and enjoyably."
