【Financial News Siheung=Kim Kyung-soo Reporter】 Gyeonggi Siheung City announced on the 13th that it won the 'Grand Prize' in the evaluation of the 'Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Senior Human Resources Development Institute.
Siheung City received excellent scores in various categories such as new project promotion performance, efforts to implement government policies, and securing employment stability for senior job managers.
In Siheung, a total of 6,053 seniors are participating in jobs. Major projects include △School safety guard △Health management for vulnerable groups △Support for social welfare facilities △Senior supporters △Small store and professional job group projects.
Seniors proficient in English are also promoting a pilot project called 'Jennifer Grandma, Tom Grandpa' where they directly teach English to local children starting this month.
The city plans to further solidify its position as a leading city in senior job policy as a model case for local governments nationwide.
Mayor Lim Byeong-taek of Siheung City said, "This (Grand Prize) award was possible due to public-private cooperation and the active participation of seniors," adding, "We will continue to improve and support the job environment so that seniors can have a rewarding and meaningful retirement."
