[Financial News] Kim Gaeri, the lawyer for former President Yoon Suk-yeol who is detained at Seoul Detention Center, claimed that former President Yoon is suffering 'human rights violations' in the detention center.
Lawyer Kim stated on her Facebook on the 12th, "Detainees are given exercise time. However, President Yoon does not have exercise time," adding, "Even during the last arrest, when we requested that he be allowed to exercise, the detention center said, 'If the President wants to exercise, all general detainees must be put away and he must exercise alone,' expressing reluctance."
Lawyer Kim said, "So I requested that he be allowed to exercise before sunrise, even before general detainees come out. I received a response saying, 'If the detention period is extended, we will consider a method,' but I have not heard that the President has exercised," adding, "The room has become narrower. The weather has become hotter. The sentence has not been confirmed. It's a human rights violation."
She added, "We are not asking for special treatment compared to general detainees. There is no reason for him to suffer more human rights violations than general detainees," adding, "Ambassador Mostan is coming to Korea. He is said to be a candidate for the U.S. Ambassador to Korea. He already knows the reality of Korea, and allies of the free camp will directly see and know what kind of human rights oppression the President is facing."
In this context, it is reported that in the case of former President Yoon, activities such as showering and exercising will be coordinated so as not to overlap with general inmates, considering his status as a former president. Earlier, on the 10th, former President Yoon, who was re-detained at Seoul Detention Center, is using a solitary cell of about 2 pyeong.
Lawyer Kim also disclosed the account number for depositing former President Yoon's personal money the day before, saying, "It is a significant emotional blow for a lawyer when a client is detained twice," adding, "The rule of law should not be invaded by the realm of politics. It is visible that all such areas are collapsing." She also opposed the investigation, saying, "It's not like he embezzled billions through development corruption, and he didn't personally pocket anything, yet they are conducting a special investigation claiming anger is a crime."
Meanwhile, earlier, Lawyer Kim mentioned the 'Enlightenment Theory' that spread among supporters of former President Yoon during the impeachment trial defense held at the Constitutional Court on February 25.
At that time, Lawyer Kim introduced herself as 'a mother of a 14-month-old daughter' and said, "I was unaware of the Democratic Party's atrocities due to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, but after confirming the fascist acts of one-party dictatorship, I decided to share the time I had set aside to be with my child and jumped into this case," adding, "(Seeing the declaration of martial law on December 3) I was enlightened."
