[Financial News] The Busan International Financial Promotion Agency, which is leading the effort to develop Busan into an international financial city, has been selected as a member of the Steering Committee of the Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to the Busan International Financial Promotion Agency (Director Lee Myung-ho) on the 13th, 'FC4S' is a global network of financial centers established within the UNDP's Sustainable Finance Hub in 2018, aiming to implement the United Nations' '2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals' and 'The Paris Agreement'.
Currently, 45 financial center-related institutions worldwide are active as FC4S members. Among them, 10 financial center-related institutions are selected as members of the Steering Committee.
With this selection to the Steering Committee, the Busan International Financial Promotion Agency will participate in the strategy formulation for the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of FC4S until the end of August next year. It is expected to greatly contribute to enhancing Busan's international recognition and status by collecting and coordinating opinions among member institutions on FC4S's global activities.
To be selected for this Steering Committee, the Busan International Financial Promotion Agency has been promoting Busan as a sustainable city and international financial center for many years, strengthening international cooperation. It has continuously participated in FC4S's vision realization and the spread of sustainable finance through international seminar participation, policy research, and expanding cooperation among member institutions.
In particular, it is understood that the international IR conducted in connection with the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) consultative body at the end of June this year to strengthen global cooperation and strategic benchmarking of Busan Financial Center acted as a background for being selected as a member.
Lee Myung-ho, Director of the Busan International Financial Promotion Agency, stated, "This selection to the Steering Committee is a meaningful advancement in Busan's growth as a global financial center leading sustainable finance," adding, "We will continue to strive to enhance Busan's status based on cooperation with FC4S."
