[Financial News] Customers who dined at a kimbap specialty store in Seocho-gu, Seoul, showed symptoms of food poisoning such as abdominal pain and high fever in large numbers, prompting health authorities to launch an urgent investigation.

According to Seocho District Office on the 12th, the kimbap store in question is located in Bangbae-dong, and complaints have been continuously received since the 9th about symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting among customers. So far, more than 130 cases have been confirmed, and many of them are known to have received hospital treatment.

The kimbap store voluntarily closed on the 8th, a day before the problem occurred. However, on online communities, posts are spreading that the store has already 'entered the process of closing down.'

Seocho-gu Health Center immediately launched an on-site investigation and secured food samples consumed by patients for detailed examination. An official stated, "We are considering administrative measures against the establishment based on the statements and analysis results of the symptomatic individuals."

Meanwhile, the district office has not yet identified the causative bacteria or a clear outbreak route, but is focusing the investigation on poor storage conditions or hygiene issues during the cooking process.

In connection with this incident, health authorities have urged citizens who dined at the establishment on the same day to seek medical attention immediately if symptoms are suspected.

Convenience foods like kimbap are classified as foods prone to bacterial growth in hot and humid summer environments. Health experts emphasize that adhering to basic rules such as quick consumption after preparation, refrigeration, and hand washing is crucial.

Related reports can be made through Seocho-gu Health Center or the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency Call Center (1339).

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and health authorities have announced intensive inspections of establishments handling high-risk foods like kimbap and lunch boxes to prevent the recurrence of similar cases.
