[Financial News]  Son Heung-min (33), the 'captain' of Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL), has returned to the team after a short vacation. With the new season approaching, football fans are focused on what conversation Son Heung-min will have with the new manager Thomas Frank amidst various transfer rumors.
Tottenham announced Son Heung-min's return on the 12th (Korea time) by posting a welcome message "Welcome back, Sonny!" along with his photo on their official SNS, thus confirming the return of the 'captain'. Having lifted the UEFA Europa League (UEL) trophy in 2024-2025, Son Heung-min returned to Korea last May, completed the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the North and Central America World Cup in June, and then took a rest. After finishing his domestic schedule, Son Heung-min departed on the 10th to join team training and is now preparing for the new season in earnest.
During this summer vacation, Son Heung-min was surrounded by various transfer rumors, including clubs from Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer (MLS) LA FC in the United States, and even Fenerbahçe led by manager Jose Mourinho. As he celebrated his 33rd birthday, standing at an important turning point in his career, his future was a matter of great interest.
With the new season approaching, Tottenham appointed Thomas Frank as the new head coach. With Son Heung-min having one year left on his contract, his role within the team has become a 'hot potato'.
As Tottenham players are returning to the team one by one to prepare for the new season with manager Frank, Son Heung-min is also set to join team training soon and have a meeting with manager Frank. After an in-depth discussion about his role within the team during this first meeting, Son Heung-min's future and his importance within the team are expected to become clearer.
Tottenham will play a pre-season match against Arsenal in Hong Kong on the 31st before coming to Korea to participate in the Coupang Play Series. On August 3rd, they will face Newcastle at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, greeting domestic fans. Locally, it is widely believed that Son Heung-min is likely to leave.
However, in a recent interview, Son Heung-min avoided giving a direct answer, saying, "I will do my best wherever I am."
