Expecting Economic Virtuous Cycle with Consumption Coupons
President Lee wrote on Facebook that day, "The alley must live for the economy to live. How about joining dining out by visiting nearby restaurants with the heart of supporting alley businesses?" he wrote.
President Lee said, "Your participation will become the driving force to revive the local economy and create a hopeful future for Korea," and mentioned, "We will also proactively prepare follow-up measures for domestic recovery."
President Lee also introduced that he dined with staff from the presidential office at a restaurant in Gwanghwamun, Seoul on the evening of the 11th.
President Lee emphasized, "On Friday evening, I had dinner with the staff," and "Even in a difficult environment that started without a transition committee or staff to hand over, they are silently doing their best in their respective positions."
He also said, "I expressed deep gratitude for everyone's hard work, including those who collapsed from overwork and went to the emergency room, the person in charge of returning to the Blue House, the field staff preparing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) event in Gyeongju, and the recruitment staff."
President Lee explained, "It was even more meaningful to meet and greet the people directly. It was a time to hear about the actual economic situation and prices by sitting face to face with store owners, staff, and customers who came to eat."
He added, "I listened to all opinions carefully," and "This meeting will greatly help in carefully examining the lives of the people and preparing policies in the future."
President Lee also said on the 11th at the restaurant, he ordered pork belly and made 'somaek' (soju and beer) for the staff, saying, "To boost consumption, I must dine out a lot first."
