【Financial News Muan=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Jeonnam-do will conduct education on preventing jeonse fraud for young people working in public institutions on the 14th at 2 PM at the Provincial Office Wangin Room.
This is because, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport survey, about 75% of recent jeonse fraud victims are young people such as newcomers to society.
Moreover, the recently revised 'Special Act on Support and Housing Stability for Jeonse Fraud Victims' limits the protection scope to contractors before May 31, 2025, emphasizing the importance of prevention.
Also, the Ministry of Land's victim recognition rate dropped from 94.1% in July 2023 to 49.7% in December last year, making prevention more urgent than support after the occurrence.
Therefore, Jeonnam-do plans to provide practical case-centered prevention education for young people and newcomers to society to preemptively block jeonse fraud and enhance housing stability.
The jeonse fraud prevention education consists of △major types of jeonse fraud and actual cases △key checklist for jeonse contracts △methods of prevention △response guidelines in case of occurrence. It will especially deliver essential information that young people must know in an easy-to-understand manner. Not only public institution employees but also any resident can participate.
Previously, Jeonnam-do conducted jeonse fraud prevention education for about 870 students at six universities, including Mokpo University and Jeonnam University, in March under the supervision of the Land Management Division, and in June, a special lecture on jeonse fraud prevention was held for 130 office workers in Gwangyang City under the supervision of the Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center.
Institutions or organizations that need jeonse fraud prevention education can inquire at the Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center. Applications for education are available year-round and are free of charge.
Gwak Chunseop, Director of Architecture Development at Jeonnam-do, said, "Due to the limitations of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Act, legal support has been reduced, so preemptive prevention is crucial to protect the valuable assets of young people," and added, "We will continue to expand jeonse fraud prevention education and counseling support through the Jeonnam Housing Welfare Center and others."
