NVIDIA, which has established itself as the emperor of artificial intelligence (AI) stocks, entered a market capitalization of 4 trillion dollars on the 11th (local time).
Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA, is competing in the wealth ranking with Warren Buffett, the chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, known as the 'Oracle of Omaha', whose net worth has decreased due to donations.
Meanwhile, CEO Huang sold approximately 36.4 million dollars (about 50.1 billion KRW) worth of NVIDIA shares this time, following last month.
Securing a Market Cap of 4 Trillion Dollars
NVIDIA is securing a market cap of 4 trillion dollars while breaking its all-time high stock price record for the fourth consecutive day.
Based on the closing price of the previous day, NVIDIA set a record as the first company to reach a market cap of 4 trillion dollars, and on this day, it rose 1.3% to 166 dollars, gaining momentum.
As a result, the market cap increased to 4.057 trillion dollars.
This year, NVIDIA's stock price surged by 24%.
Based on the closing price of 94.31 dollars on April 4, the stock price increase rate exceeds 76%.
CEO's Stock Sale
CEO Huang is continuing the planned sale of his own shares.
According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) disclosure, he sold 225,000 shares of NVIDIA this time as part of a plan drawn up in March. The amount is about 36.4 million dollars.
Huang plans to sell up to 6 million shares of NVIDIA by the end of this year.
The first sale was last month. At that time, he sold about 15 million dollars worth.
Previously, he also sold about 700 million dollars worth of shares last year according to a pre-reported plan to the SEC.
However, CEO Huang still holds more than 858 million dollars worth of NVIDIA shares directly and indirectly.
Competing with Buffett in Wealth Ranking
At 62 years old, Huang's net worth has increased by more than 25% this year as NVIDIA's stock price surged by 24%. The amount is about 29 billion dollars.
As a result, he surpassed Buffett in the wealth ranking.
In the Fortune billionaire ranking, CEO Huang is in 7th place, ahead of Buffett, who is in 9th place.
According to Fortune's tally, Huang's net worth is 144.7 billion dollars, surpassing Buffett's 142.4 billion dollars. The 8th place is Steve Ballmer, former CEO of Microsoft (MS), with a net worth of 142.8 billion dollars.
In the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI), Huang closely follows Buffett. According to BBI, Huang's current net worth is 143 billion dollars, closely trailing Buffett's 144 billion dollars.
In the BBI ranking, Buffett is 9th and Huang is 10th.
Meanwhile, the undisputed number one billionaire is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla.
According to Fortune, Musk's net worth reaches 402.6 billion dollars, overwhelming the 276.5 billion dollars of Larry Ellison, founder of Oracle, who is in 2nd place.
