[Financial News] The Insurrection Special Prosecutor team (Cho Eun-seok Special Prosecutor) has requested a recall for former President Yoon Seok-yeol, who did not comply with the first summons after being detained.
Park Ji-young, the Insurrection Special Prosecutor, stated on the 11th, "The special prosecutor has requested former President Yoon to appear at 2 PM on the 14th through his lawyer."
The special prosecutor team has indicated that if he does not respond to the summons on the 14th, they will proceed with the next steps according to the Criminal Procedure Act, including possible forced attendance. Typically, if a detained defendant does not comply with a summons due to health reasons, the investigation is conducted through forced attendance. Special Prosecutor Park stated, "We will make a judgment at that time, but it is not unreasonable to think that we will proceed with the next steps according to the Criminal Procedure Act."
Former President Yoon submitted a statement of intent not to attend the special prosecutor's summons scheduled for 2 PM that day due to health reasons. After the detention warrant was issued on the 9th, former President Yoon, who is detained at Seoul Detention Center, submitted the statement to the detention center through his lawyer around 5 PM the previous day.
However, the explanation from the special prosecutor's side was different. The correctional authorities examined former President Yoon's health and conveyed to the special prosecutor that there were no health issues preventing him from attending the investigation.
Special Prosecutor Park stated, "I believe former President Yoon will respond to the investigation on the 14th," adding, "As a lawyer and legal professional who has been in the field for a long time, former President Yoon understands the nature of the detention warrant better than anyone."
