[Financial News] The People Power Party Innovation Committee has prepared an innovation plan to maintain the current 'single leadership system' while abolishing the Supreme Council system and replacing it with the 'Central Party Affairs Meeting'.

Ho Joon-seok, spokesperson for the People Power Party Innovation Committee, met with reporters after the Innovation Committee meeting at the central party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and announced this innovation plan, stating "We will adopt a single leadership system and abolish the Supreme Council."

The Innovation Committee first decided to maintain the single leadership system. There have been some disagreements regarding the leadership system of the new leadership ahead of the party convention scheduled for mid-August. The current system, the single leadership system, elects the party leader and Supreme Council members separately, while the collective leadership system elects the highest vote-getter as the 'representative Supreme Council member' and the next highest vote-getters as Supreme Council members.

This is to strengthen the leadership of the central party leadership system. The existing Supreme Council was composed of 9 members, including the party leader, floor leader, 4 elected Supreme Council members, 1 youth Supreme Council member, 1 appointed Supreme Council member, and the policy committee chairman. The Innovation Committee explained that the intention is to strengthen the leadership of the party leader by abolishing the Supreme Council system. Spokesperson Ho added, "We will become a party that wins by strengthening the leadership of the central party leadership system and building and enhancing policy capabilities."

The 'Central Party Affairs Meeting', which will be established to replace the Supreme Council, will also be composed of 9 members, just like the Supreme Council. It will include the party leader, floor leader, policy committee chairman, secretary-general, chief spokesperson, youth chairperson, women chairperson, and two non-parliamentary district chairpersons appointed by the party leader.

The Innovation Committee also proposed the establishment of a 'National Public Sentiment Meeting'. The intention is to reflect regional public sentiment by having party members directly elect representatives of the 17 city and provincial parties nationwide. The chairman of the National Public Sentiment Meeting will convey and check regional public sentiment to the party leader.

The innovation plan also includes using the authority to nominate proportional representation candidates for each city and provincial party. Additionally, there are plans to increase allocations for weak areas where party support is low and for youth.

The Innovation Committee intends to apply the innovation plan from the party convention to be held next month after going through procedures such as a party-wide vote or amendment of the party constitution and regulations. Regarding the personnel cleanup, which was a decisive background for the failure of the 'Ahn Cheol-soo Innovation Committee', they said, "We discussed it today (11th)" and "We will announce the results soon."
