[Financial News] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced that it conducted a training program for ASEAN transportation officials from June 30 to July 11.
The training was attended by 33 transportation officials from 9 ASEAN countries, including the Philippines and Vietnam.
The training was organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to strengthen transportation cooperation between Korea and ASEAN. KORAIL conducted lectures and field visits in the railway and logistics sectors.
The trainees attended lectures on the current status and new technologies of Korean railways. They also visited railway and logistics sites such as the Railway Traffic Control Center, Goyang KTX Depot, and Uiwang ICD, gaining insights into Korea's transportation infrastructure and railway operation know-how.
KORAIL shared Korea's official development assistance project strategy, supporting trainees in establishing their own country's transportation development plans.
On June 30, a business meeting was held between ASEAN officials participating in the training and domestic transportation and logistics companies, exploring opportunities for Korean companies to expand overseas.
KORAIL plans to discover follow-up cooperation projects based on the training outcomes and continuously promote the export of the Korean railway operation model overseas.
Cho Jin-hwan, Head of the Overseas Business Division, said, "The invitation training is a representative project showcasing the global capabilities of Korean railways," adding, "This training is expected to further invigorate cooperation in the railway and logistics sectors with ASEAN."
