"I'll get your son a job at Hyundai"... 60-year-old swindles acquaintances out of 1.6 billion won

【Financial News Jeonju=Kang In Reporter】 A 60-year-old has been brought to trial for receiving large sums of money from acquaintances by promising to get their children jobs at large corporations.

The Criminal Division 3 of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 11th that Mr. A was indicted for fraud.

Mr. A is accused of deceiving 16 acquaintances into giving him 1.66 billion won from 2015 to 2024 by promising to get their children jobs at the Hyundai Motor Jeonju plant.

Previously, the police forwarded the case with six victims and damages amounting to 600 million won, but the prosecution identified 10 additional victims after completing their investigation.

A prosecution official stated, "This is a large-scale employment fraud that spanned a long period," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the defendant receives a sentence commensurate with the crime."
