【Financial News Andong=Kim Jang-wook Reporter】 "The APEC Summit is a very important international event, so it should be made into an event that can exceed expectations and impress the world's major leaders and numerous businesspeople, showcasing Korea's normalization to the world."
Kim Min-seok, Prime Minister and APEC Summit Preparation Committee Chairman, takes the current situation seriously as the APEC Summit approaches, inspecting the preparation status for the 2025 APEC Summit at the HICO Convention Center in Gyeongju at 10 a.m. on the 11th.
Following this, Prime Minister Kim directly toured the APEC Summit preparation site, checking the status of key infrastructure such as the summit venue, VIP accommodations, and banquet hall, emphasizing swift and thorough preparation to avoid any disruptions to the event.
This site inspection is particularly significant as it was conducted under Prime Minister Kim's strict awareness following the President's instructions. Additionally, there was communication with the President via social media early in the morning.
Prime Minister Kim expressed a strong commitment to event preparation, stating, "Following today's first site inspection, I will revisit the site next week to thoroughly inspect accommodations, aviation and transportation, cultural and economic event venues, and other related matters."
Prime Minister Kim received reports on the current status of APEC Summit preparations and reviewed the details.
He pointed out that if preparations are not made well in advance, there could be a situation where time is pressed, as the completion of major infrastructure is scheduled for September. He urged for swift action on necessary matters in advance.
He also instructed that safety in the workplace be prioritized, especially in situations like heatwaves, and that thorough preparations be made to prevent any disruptions to future processes.
Prime Minister Kim carefully examined the progress of infrastructure such as the summit venue, media center, accommodations, and banquet hall through the site inspection.
He emphasized the importance of not only renovation work for each accommodation but also the quality of accommodation services, instructing that training for related personnel be strengthened to improve the overall quality of service.
He urged that the banquet hall, which is currently the slowest in construction progress, be completed with ample time to ensure there are no gaps in the preparation for banquets and cultural events.
Kim Hak-hong, the administrative deputy governor who guided Prime Minister Kim's site inspection, said, "With the Prime Minister's visit as the Chairman of the Summit Preparation Committee, preparations will proceed with greater speed through closer cooperation with central ministries and related agencies."
He added, "While prioritizing safety, such as heat-related illnesses during the summer, we promise to complete all construction by September by maximizing available time, including holidays and nights," and "With about 110 days remaining, we will do our best at the local government level to ensure the successful hosting of APEC, bearing the weight and responsibility of the event's importance."
